The former Rotherham defender has been out with a calf strain but returned to training last week and will hopefully be able to battle for his place again.
Graeme Lee is now nearing full fitness following some run outs in the reserves and coming off the bench in recent weeks too.
A similar side to that which performed well in the first half at Bradford but ended up losing in the second half is expected to turn out.
Paul Sturrock only has his long-term absentees like David Lucas and Lee Peacock to worry about now as he considers which players he will keep and which ones he will let go once his assessment of the club is over.
It is expected that Craig Armstrong, Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu and Jon Shaw will be some of the big names who the new boss does not believe will have a future at Hillsborough.
Steve MacLean meanwhile believes that Sturrock's influence is already rubbing off on the players and he told Footymad: "Paul has definitely organised us and we have worked well for him but every single day he comes into training with new methods and we are interested in what he wants us to do – all the boys seem to be enjoying it and you could have seen from the performance at Bradford and since he took over that we come on leaps and bounds from the start of the campaign."
And as for the game at the game at the County Ground and then Saturday's clash with the Spireites, the forward added: "We can’t be anything but positive going into Swindon and Chesterfield."
