The left-back played three times for the club before going back down to Craven Cottage and now has his eye on a first-team spot for the London side.

He also admitted that Paul Sturrock was a very tough manager please but adapted well to the Scotman's style of playing.

Green told Fulham’s official website: “Sturrock was quiet around the training ground, but on a match day you knew that if you made a mistake he was going to pick you up on it. He was a very strict manager.

"He likes the ball to go long early and try to hit the front man or hit the channels. It was something that was quite new to me - I've been at Fulham for quite a while so I'm more used to playing the ball out. But I got used to playing that way.

"It was a good experience to see the other side of things, to see what the other divisions are like. It's hard to match the training facilities here at Fulham, but Hillsborough's a big ground and the fans were very good to me - I can't say a bad word about them, they were brilliant.”
