Goalkeeper on Leeds defeat - exclusive

The goalkeeper who made his last appearance for the club yesterday thought that Wednesday did play well though in what was a very disappointing result for the travelling Owls fans.

Paul Butler gave the home side the lead just after the hour although it did look as if the former Wolves defender pushed Richard Wood twice in the build-up while Richard Cresswell capitalised on Wednesday being temporarily being down to ten men to make it 2-0 before adding a third late on.

Weaver told Footymad: “I think they did deserve to win but 3-0 does sound like a bit of a trouncing, and it wasn’t at all.

"It was an even game until midway through the second half when they got the goal: when it’s 1-0 you know you always have a chance but the killer goal was the second one when Woody was off, he was marking Cresswell and they scored – that’s how it goes but we are very disappointed but Leeds is a difficult place to come and there’s not many teams who will come here and get anything.

“Because of the run we have been on previously it wasn’t a must-win game so we came here with a bit of confidence but we are still very disappointed because before the game we really fancied our chances.”
