Sheffield Wednesday secured an extension to the loan spell of young defender Tony McMahon prior to Saturday's 0-0 draw with Ipswich.
The full-back was perhaps not at his best against Town but, the Reading game not withstanding, he has certainly helped to shore up the Owls defence during his first month at the club.
The deal has been extended for a further two months, running until November 15th, covering a further 10 matches, culminating in the away game at Derby County on that Saturday, although Middlesbrough can call upon a 24-hour recall policy should they need to.
With Richard Hinds out for a number of months and Frank Simek taking longer than was initially expected to recover from an injury sustained at Crystal Palace last December it was vital that the Owls were able to secure a deal for a player to fill in at right-back and McMahon has looked impressive overall so far.
The deal means that no undue pressure needs to be placed on the return of USA international Simek.
