Sheffield Wednesday won at Wolverhampton Wanderers for the first time in 7 visits on Saturday with Fernando Forestieri a key figure.
The diminutive forward was back to his energetic best at Molineux as he provided the spark for the 2-0 win which moved the Owls back up to 7th place.
Having had a troubled start to the season, including making the decision not to play at Norwich in Auguest when he was being linked with a move away from Hillsborough, Forestieri has seemed somewhat subdued at times in the opening months of the campaign.
During the recent international break at the beginning of the month Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal noted that he had seen a fresh burst of energy and vigour in his squad and especially in Forestieri, stating that he expected to his the best of his 26-year-old striker once again soon.
Last weekend, in the first game back after the international break, Forestieri capped a fine team move with an excellent finish that would have earned the Owls 3 points at Fulham but for an injury time equaliser and this Saturday he proved to be too much for Wolves.
The former Watford forward was alive inside the penalty area to get to the ball first and was brought down for a clear penalty, he duly picked himself up and sent the keeper the wrong way for 1-0. Fifteen minutes later the lead was doubled when Forestieri's pressing forced the Wolves defence into a mistake and he raced into the penalty and squared for Lucas Joao who kept his cool to pick out Kieran Lee to score from close range.
Wednesday were dominant in the first half and 2-0 didn't really do them justice. Wolves, in manager Paul Lambert's first home game, gave it more of a go second half but Forestieri almost grabbed a third when capitalising on more poor defending but was denied by the keeper.
The Owls return to Hillsborough next weekend to face Preston and will be looking to push into the top 6 again.
