Sheffield Wednesday were left bottom and pointless in their group in the Central heat of the football Masters competition this evening.
Grouped with reigning champions Leicester and city rivals Sheffield United the Owls, who included the likes of Efan Ekoku, Kevin Pressman, Carlton Palmer and Danny Maddix amongst their ranks, looked completely out of their depth.
Wednesday suffered an embarrassing 5-3 defeat to the Blades in their first match as former derby-match scorers Wayne Allison and Adrian Littlejohn tormented the Owls again.
Worse was to follow in the second game as a side lacking in pace and defensive ability were thumped 5-0 by Leicester giving a strong Owls contingent in the crowd very little to cheer.
That result meant that Leicester advanced to meet the winners of the other group, Nottingham Forest in the final, with the Foxes running out 5-1 winners.
