Former Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Madjid Bougherra is being linked with a move back to the big time as a number of top flight clubs are apparently interested in signing him.
Bougherra became something of a cult hero in his short time at the club during the 2006/07 season but many supporters felt betrayed when he sought out his dream move to the Premier League in the January transfer window that season, having only played for the Owls for a few months.
Madjid Joined Charlton Athletic for a fee in the region of £2.5M but his dream became more of a nightmare as at first he was restricted by injury and then a loss of form contributed to the Addicks being relegated.
He only made a handful of appearances in the Premier League and despite Charlton falling short of promotion last season a personal return to form has alerted the likes of Rangers, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and most recently Real Betis in Spain.
Charlton will be hoping to at least recoup the money the spent on Madjid last year and while it is unclear whether Wednesday included a sell-on clause when he joined Charlton it will be surprising if this wasn't the case.
