When Paul Sturrock was manager of SWFC he tipped Mark Beevers to become a big player in the future but few could have predicted that he would be such a big success straight away.
Having made his debut aged just 17 in early 2007, Beevers came into the side this season at a time when the club were struggling the results near the foot of the Championship table. This would have been a test for any player, never mind one so young and lacking in experience but he slotted into the side as if he had played at this level for many a year, often producing man-of-the-match performances.
Despite the Owls low league position, they had a creditable defensive record and this was in no small part thanks to the displays of Beevers. His performances were recognised at national level in March when he received the Wickes Young Apprentice of the Year award at the Football League Awards Ceremony and has since won the SWFC player of the year award.
You can probably count the number of telling mistakes he has made in his 26 league starts this campaign on one hand and his displays have drawn the attention of a number of Premier League suitors.
Overall season verdict: 9 out of 10. Has shown maturity beyond his years in what has been a very difficult season for the club and deserves all the praise he has received.
