Eagles Vs Owls: Team news

Sheffield Wednesday face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park tomorrow looking to put an end to a run of three straight Championship defeats. Palace have also been disappointing of late, picking up just one point from their last three games which included a home defeat to struggling Nottingham Forest.

Wednesday go into the game without suspended midfielder Jimmy Smith but will hope to welcome back James O'Connor, who has missed the three successive defeats through injury.

Centre-back Mark Beevers also faces a late fitness test and striker Marcus Tudgay is rumoured to be in contention though it would be something of a surprise if he is passed fit.

Fellow front man Akpo Sodje looked well short of match fitness in a brief appearance in Tuesday's home defeat and is unlikely to start the match.
Brian Laws was disappointed in the performances of wide men Etienne Esajas and Jermaine Johnson against Plymouth and Wade Small could start if Laws chooses to omit either player.

The home side will be looking to bounce back from Tuesdays defeat against lowly Forest and former Owls striker Shefki Kuqi could be in line for a start after impressing from the bench in recent games.

Former Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock is likely to continue with ex-blade Paul Ifill in a wide attacking position but is without the services of injured strikers Alan Lee and James Scowcroft as well as Portuguese defender Jose Fonte.

West Brom striker Craig Beattie recently signed an extension to his loan spell with the Eagles but missed Tuesdays defeat with an ankle injury and needs to prove his fitness.

In the six times the two sides have met at Selhurst Park this decade, Wednesday have recorded just one win and one draw.
The Owls have an appalling away record this season but their one victory on their travels did come in their last visit to the capital, against Charlton. A win should see them rise back into the top half of the division but defeat would see their opponents leap frog over them and push them close to the relegation zone.
