Goals from Chris Brunt and David Graham, only his second league goal for the club beat County, who had gone in front during a dominant first period at Hillsborough.
"It was a great win," Simek told Footymad. "I thought in the first half we were very poor, probably our worst performance of the season and we could have been two or three down. But in the second half we came out and we fought better and played much better to get two really good goals and the win.
"The second half reminded me of the Leeds game but we showed great spirit to come from 1-0 down to win the game 2-1."
The American defender was pleased that Graham answered his critics and Peacock put in a man-of-the-match performance.
He added: "Lee worked his socks off, it’s amazing the amount of ground he covers in a game and we were all happy for David because he came on and got the winner. We all know what he can do and there’s more to come from him."
Peacock meanwhile was immense leading the line and his endeavour deserved a goal, but the former Bristol City striker admits that a half-time telling off by Paul Sturrock made Wednesday sharpen their ideas up.
He said: "We got a bit of a rollicking by the gaffer at half time and that gave us the kick up the backside we needed. We needed to step it up a gear and we did. We have to turn our game on especially at home and in the second half we did that, getting our just rewards in the process.
"I was shattered when I went off. I got a bit of a knock on my back and I am glad I got a good reception but the main thing is that we got the result. Obviously fans are not going to be happy with the first-half performance but we got the telling off during the break and came out stronger."
