The Owls goalkeeper and young midfielder both believe that the visit to Ashton Gate is a massive challenge and with City just above Wednesday in the league, there is everything to play for, especially with Hull visiting Hillsborough only four days later.
Lucas told Footymad: "The Bristol City game will be difficult but we would rather play teams who are going to give us a tough game as sometimes you can take you foot off the gas with the supposed lesser teams but this is why you play football to play in big games like the one this coming Saturday.
"The Hull game will be a big one too, as will the one after that against Brentford so we have got three games coming up against teams who are doing well this season. They are tough games but we have to play them sometime.
"I think that we should be up there at the end of the season. We have some tough games coming up and we need a platform to build on as well as having confidence in your performances. The lads are growing in confidence every day, especially the young lads, but more of this self belief and we are going to be right up there."
The former Preston star though he was going to be missing for a lengthy spell following the knee injury he picked up against Peterborough but is now adamant to play as many games as he can.
He added: "Following the injury I got at Peterborough I thought I was going to be out for a few months, I wasn’t initially sure and didn’t want to think about it, I just wanted to get back fit as soon as possible. I came back for the Stockport game and I wasn’t 100percent I was determined to get back there and not miss any more games."
McMahon meanwhile knows that City have been there and done it in this division before and now believes that Wednesday are more than capable of holding their own in league one.
He said: "We know City are a massive team in this league and they have proven before they can play well in this league and have been at the top for the last two seasons and we have to match them player for player as we are just as good as any other team in this division and now we need to prove it."
Meanwhile at the AGM last night, chairman Dave Allen said that this season's aim was to break even and the success of the Bloor training ground sale was vital for the club.
The club also accepted Dennis Hobson's 'no strings' cash donation and they will be writing to the boxing promoter to arrange a funds transfer in the next few days.
Paul Sturrock was given a massive round of applause and got the backing of the shareholders, and was overwhelmed with the passion shown by supporters.
