The teenager, who scored one of the goals in the win at Hull missed training on Thursday and Friday but it is hoped that he will return in the next few days.
Talbot should be fine for Sunday's showdown with Hartlepool and it is hoped that he gets no side effects from the illness.
If Talbot is unfit, it would leave Paul Sturrock with a selection headache with only Lee Peacock and James Quinn the only fit strikers at the club unless Graham Barrett recovers from his injury.
Sturrock, who famously gave his players a small tipple the day before the Hull game will have similar 'team-building' sessions in the next few days although he is keeping his ideas close to his chest.
