Defenders on play-off chase - exclusive

The central-defensive duo played a big part as a physical Coventry side came to Hillsborough at the weekend but went home empty handed.

Now Wednesday are unbeaten in 11 games, eight of which have been won and won eight of them and are now only two points off the play-offs.

"It's good to see at the moment," Wood told Footymad about Wednesday's fantastic run.

"Hopefully we can get two more wins to push us into the play-offs and sneak in the back door. The gaffer said at half time don't get involved or react to their physical approach, he wanted us to do what we are good at which is getting the ball on the ground and playing football which I feel we did well in the second half against Coventry."

Bullen meanwhile was proud of his team-mates after they stood up for themselves well and got the points in a scrappy game.

He said: "I personally think we have played better in the last few weeks but it was a means to an end. We needed the three points and got the three points, we got clobbered a few times but at the end of the day it's results what matter and we have to get them at the moment to keep the dream alive.

"We gave as good as we got and there's a real steely determination about the lads at the moment, we are not scared to put our foot in."

Bullen is keeping realistic regarding the chase for the play-offs with The Owls having a difficult game at Birmingham on Saturday and believes that everything has to go Wednesday's way, including on relying on results from others.

He added: "All we can do at the moment is to continue what we are doing to make the dream come true. We need a lot to go for us but if we win our games, the play-offs are a distinct possibility. But why not? We have to keep the dream alive, believe in ourselves and hopefully things fall our way."
