The former Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough stopper has been inspirational between the sticks for The Owls after signing on loan from Fulham and has made no secret that he wants to stay in S6 and even end his career at the club.
But Wednesday have to act fast according to Crossley and the signing has to be made next week so he can play in the FA Cup game against Manchester City - otherwise tomorrow's game against Hull City could be his last.
He told Footymad: "I want to stay here for 18 months although at the moment it is looking more like a loan deal which will keep me here until the end of the season and see what happens from there because I really would like something in concrete for next season because I think I can play for a couple of more years.
"I would like to end my career at Sheffield so we I will take it as it comes and probably sign on loan for the rest of the season. The loan signing has to be done in the week between the Hull and Manchester City games so hopefully something will be sorted then."
On the Hull game, videos have been watched by Brian Laws from the disappointing 2-1 defeat to The Tigers earlier in the season and he even raced up to the KC Stadium after yesterday's 3-0 win at Barnsley but Crossley knows it will not be easy to overcome tomorrow's visitors.
He added: "We know the performance against Hull earlier in the season was not good enough but the team has confidence at the moment and it will be a different game on New Year's Day I can assure you.
"The lads are fully confident but football has a bad habit of kicking you where it hurts when you do get overconfident so we are not going to get overconfident, we will keep playing well and see what happens on the last game of the season."
May I take this opportunity to wish all Owls fans, players and management staff a prosperous new year!
