Sheffield Wednesday have moved to ease their defensive injury problems by signing Chelsea's Sam Hutchinson on a 1-month loan deal.
The 24-year-old, who has developed through the ranks at Stamford Bridge is eligible to play for the Owls in the F.A. Cup and is in contention to make his debut against Charlton at Hillsborough on Saturday.
Hutchinson made his debut for the Blues on the final day of the 2006/07 season but his early professional career was dogged by injury. In fact in 2010 he took the decision to retire due to a serious knee problem. The defender remained with the academy at that time, studying for coaching badges and by the 2011/12 season he had proved his fitness and was able to resume his career with the club.
Hutchinson featured for Chelsea in the final couple of games of the 2011/12 season and had a successful time on loan at Nottingham Forest last season. He spent the first half of this season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in Holland.
