Carson, impressive at Hillsborough at the back end of last season, is expected to be loaned out to a Premiership club or to be The Reds' backup stopper.
With the former Leeds player still at the World Cup with England, Sturrock believes that he cannot wait any longer for a response from Liverpool as he starts to build for next season.
The players returned back from their breaks yesterday and the only senior 'keeper at the club is now Chris Adamson and the Wednesday boss is hoping to sign a number one before the trip to the USA.
Sturrock told the club's official site: "We just can't take a chance on waiting and waiting and then finding out a Premiership team comes in for Scott. Then we'll be scrambling for a goalkeeper a week from the start of the season."
