Sheffield Wednesday have today completed the signing of Lewis Buxton from Stoke City. The versatile defender has put pen to paper on a two and a half year deal for a nominal fee.
Buxton was a regular for Stoke during the 2005/06 season but over the following two seasons injury and stiff competition for places restricted his first team appearances and he joined the Owls on loan in October 2008.
His versatility proved to be a big asset to a Wednesday squad depleted by injuries and with Frank Simek unable to make a full recovery from a long-standing injury problem, Buxton made the right-back spot his own during his time on loan at Hillsborough and became a popular figure in the team.
