Bullen confident of victory - exclusive

The Owls travel across the Pennines for a game which in reality they should really have won in the last two visits but lost both times.

But with Wednesday's form being sporadic to say the least in recent games, the defence needs to tighten up if Paul Sturrock's men are to get anything from the clash.

Bullen told Footymad: "On paper it is an easy game but with the way our form has been in the last few weeks we can’t take anything for granted but we will go there without any fear.

"Personally I don’t think we have played a team who are better than us but there’s the stupid mistakes we are making and when we iron those out we will be up there challenging.

"But if we make the same mistakes against Stockport as we have done recently then it could be hard but we will be there full of confidence, so much so that hopefully you can put a ‘2’ in your football coupon."

A good win at Stockport will put the club in confident mood for next Saturday's FA Cup clash at Swindon - the team Wednesday threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against recently, but there is nothing to fear from The Robins according to the Scotsman.

He added: "Swindon is a team who we shouldn’t be fearful of at all. I thought we played very well for eighty minutes down there only for us to lose it in a very poor last ten minutes so we will go down there with confidence, show them the respect they deserve but it is a very tasty draw for the first round of the FA Cup."

Meanwhile, Sturrock came out openly yesterday to back under-fire chairman Dave Allen and called upon disgruntled supporters to back him.

He said: "No man puts millions and millions of pounds into a football club and tries not to be successful. I've now learnt the internal history of this football club and it surprises me that this chairman has had to take the flak he has had to take

"It seems it is things that have happened in the past that have really caused the concerns of the present."
