The Owls are currently bottom going into the international week after their third-straight league defeat at the hands of Sunderland on Saturday.
But he thinks the two-week break will be good for Wednesday and hopefully players can be refreshed going into the Barnsley game.
He told Footymad: "I think we are pretty deflated after Sunderland, we worked hard but at the end of the day, it wasn't good enough. It is easy to get down and depressed about it but we have to dig in and hopefully we will have a few more bodies back so we can get the win at the Barnsley game.
"Everyone has been saying that our performances don't merit where we are but at the end of the day, we have to be good enough to put the ball in the net and that has been our major problem all season."
But again goalscoring is a massive problem for Wednesday, and the Northern Ireland international says that hitting the back of the net is all down to confidence.
He added: "I don't know what the secret to scoring goals in this league is yet. I think defensively we are having a decent season and Madjid Bougherra looks like he is going to be a great signing but at the moment, that's just one of those things
– we just have to learn how to put the ball in the net, but it's not for lack of trying."We have to hit the target and I will hold my hands up too because I am sometimes as bad as anyone for not hitting the target. You can spend hours doing it on the training ground and score loads of goals but at the end of the day, it's all well and good doing it on the training ground but it's doing it in matches that counts, and it can get you down at times too."
