Brunt has been left out of recent squads but now hopes to play in the European qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Sweden in March as he hopes to cement his place in Lawrie Sanchez's first-team plans.
He told the Belfast Telegraph: "This was a chance for me and one or two others to stake a claim for a place next month and nobody let themselves down.
"I was disappointed to be left out for the last few games, particularly the Denmark and Latvia matches when I didn't even make the squad.
"The team has been doing well though and the response after losing to Iceland in our first European Championship qualifier has been great."
