Speculation linking Owls boss with Newcastle
Following confirmation that Rafa Benitez will not be staying on as boss of Newcastle United speculation has started to grow as to who might replace him at St James Park.
As usual bookmakers have offered prices on a long list of potential candidates and Wednesday manager Steve Bruce has been included in these lists with a shortest price on Monday afternoon of around 16/1.
Although a Geordie and a boyhood Newcastle fan it would be a surprise if Bruce was to make such a move now. He is settling into the task in hand at Hillsborough and the Owls would demand a hefty compensation fee from Newcastle. The 58-year-old was linked with the Newcastle job in 2014 when manager of Hull City and when questioned at that time he stated that although it was nice to be linked it was not something he would consider while he had a job to do at Hull City.
Former Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho and ex-Birmingham boss Garry Monk are among the early favourites for the Toon position.
