Boss on Hatters draw

The Hatters came into the game on fire – Mike Newell’s men had won their first six games and that run was put to a halt by a resolute Wednesday team.

But following the draw with Oldham on bank holiday Monday, the Owls boss believes that the club could have easily have got six points out of the two games rather than the two.

He also praised the contribution of Richard Wood and Patrick Collins, who again caught the eye with impressive defensive performances.

He said after the game: “We could have easily got six points from our last two home games and I thought against
Luton we played some good football and we were inches away from getting the final touch at times, Lee Peacock’s effort in the first half was an excellently created opportunity.

“We have conceded a lot of goals recently but we looked tighter and the clean sheet proved that and the young players like Wood and Collins did extremely well.”

He was not too happy about the match official though, he added: “One man tried to spoil the whole game I felt but I can’t really say anything about that but overall I am happy, you don’t win six games on the bounce if you are a bad side and Luton are a very good team.”
