Steve MacLean's equaliser was the very least The Owls deserved after outplaying Stuart Pearce's men in the 1-1 draw at Hillsborough.
"I believe we were the better side on the day, but at least we have another bite of the cherry and we are in the hat for the draw for the next round," Laws said.
"We will go there with confidence because we've a good away record, we are playing well, so it will be no easy ride for Manchester City. It would have been a travesty if we had not got the equaliser.
"We had our chances before that, but as with any football team you have to take them. But even after going a goal down nobody dropped their heads and they kept believing."
The replay will now be on Tuesday 16th of January and not the Wednesday date which was published in the program - the match was moved to the Tuesday after City requested that date.
The winner of the tie at The City of Manchester Stadium will play Southampton at home on the weekend of the 27th January.
