Boss fuming at another late goal

Lee Peacock scored his 100th career goal following up from a Chris Brunt shot but missed two guilt-edged chances soon after.

Deep into stoppage time though, Wednesday dwindled on the ball and gave possession to the visitors who capitalised with a Colin Kazim-Richards header.

Sturrock fumed: “We should have taken the sting out of the game and run down the clock. We had the ball in the corner and didn’t need to go anywhere but one of them decided to finish the game off.

“In the last three games we’ve shown panic in running the clock down and it’s kicked us in the teeth.”

A bad night got worse though for Sturrock as it was revealed that Wycombe accepted a £700,000 bid for striker Nathan Tyson but the former Reading man turned down the move because he wants to stay with his family in the south.

Wednesday’s striker search goes on then and with Peacock the only player who looks remotely like scoring for The Owls at the moment, a new forward is a must if the club have any ambitions of staying in the championship this season.
