Best in line for debut

18-year-old Best will be eligible to play at the Britannia Stadium tomorrow as Paul Sturrock called his former club to find some cover for the crocked Steve MacLean.

The former QPR loanee, who is yet to score a professional goal, will not be able to play against The Saints next Saturday.

Lee Peacock is the only fit striker at the club at the moment with Drew Talbot and Barry Corr laid low for a few months and Adam Proudlock recovering from a septic toe.

Lee Bullen would have been drafted in up front usually but he is also out for six weeks with an Achilles injury.

Sturrock should give full debuts to Frankie Simek, John Halls, Graham Coughlan and Chris Eagles while it is expected that Burton O’Brien and Richie Partridge will start from the bench.

Nearly 5000 Wednesdayites will flock down from
Sheffield to see the club’s first game back in the championship following their play-off promotion last May.
