The Wednesday chief told Turner, who he has so vigorously backed during the last 20 months, to leave the club as well as assistant Colin West with the team picking up only three wins from ten games so far this season.
This news comes as a bolt from the blue for the Hillsborough faithful although to be totally honest, the Sword of Damocles has been precariously hanging over Turner’s head since the back end of last season.
Wednesday were dire against The Cherries and the players did not look up for it in the slightest – and Allen took immediate action against Turner.
Breaking the news on Radio Sheffield, Allen made it clear that results were imperative but believes the club will bounce back by ‘taking their time’ to appoint a new man for role which is becoming a poisoned chalice for managers.
Allen commented: “He knew that we had to do well over this game and the next game at Wrexham. The pressure was on but neither the team nor Chris delivered.
"I'd said we had to get nine points out of those three games to get us on two points per game, which would get us out of this division.”
Indeed it was a brave move by Allen, especially when he was quoted as saying if Chris Turner left the club; he would quickly follow although fans cannot be critical of the chairman for showing the coaching staff the door.
Although Allen laughed of leaving by claiming: “I’ve got far too much money involved in this business and I intend to get it right.”
