The former Plymouth man played his first game in months at the weekend down in Southend after coming back from a troublesome Achilles problem but missed out at home to Stoke on Tuesday.

But with Glenn Whelan looking likely to miss the game at Hull on Friday with a hip problem, Adams should be the man to come in and deputise should the Ireland Under-21 skipper have to miss out.

Adams
told Footymad: “It's brilliant to be finally back, even if it's just with the boys training but I capped it off with the game at the weekend so I'm delighted. I was raring to go against Southend after playing in two reserve games so I am fit and ready for the next games now.”

Despite Wednesday being overrun with central midfielders, Adams is hoping once everyone is fit, he will be battling with the likes of Whelan, Yoann Folly, Burton O'Brien and Kenny Lunt for a first-team spot.

He added: “The competition is good for us, in the long run it is going to benefit the team because there's about five players competing for the same shirts so hopefully that keeps everyone's game sharp because if you don't do that well then you go out of the team, so that gives you the incentive to try extra hard. I don't know what's been happening with our injuries but hopefully everyone will be ok from now on.”

Meanwhile, Wednesday have denied that denied that John Milton is to become director of football at the club.

The former Yeovil Town general manager was linked with a move to Hillsborough in the press today but The Owls have stated that they are leaving all footballing matters up to Paul Sturrock.
