Owls squad enjoy run outs at Lincoln and Stocksbridge
Sheffield Wednesday didn't let the managerial meddling surrounding the cub affect them on Saturday as they stepped up their warm-ups for the new season with wins at Lincoln City and Stocksbridge Park Steels.
Steve Bruce was at Lincoln where Wednesday ran out 3-1 winners in a 1pm kick-off thanks to goals from Rhodes and Reach in an impressive first-half and an own goal in the second half before the home side scored a consolation.
At 3pm the other half of the Owls squad made the short trip to Stocksbridge Park Steels. Sam Winnall scored the only goal of the first-half but the flood gates opened in the second 45 with goals from Nuhiu, Harris, Forestieri and Van Aken rounding off a 5-0 win.
Steve Bruce's post-match comments at Lincoln confirm a move to Newcastle United is on the cards for him but if Wednesday are to need a new manager any prospective boss would appear to have plenty to work with ahead of the new campaign.
